In general, I agree: Life cycle thinking should result in benefits for a company, but nowadays in most cases it doesn't really pay to keep upstream processes and product disposal in mind. I think, there should be some frame work to enhance producer responsibility, such as legislation (obligatory take-back systems, include disposal costs into product costs etc.) or voluntary industry agreements or environmental taxes or LCA labelling or advanced green marketing or what ever. >From your point of view: What is going on in India to support life cycle thinking currently, and what would be the most promising stragtegy for India, you think? What has to be done for an advanced and beneficial LCA application in Indian companies? And a second question: In which industry sector in India do you see EMS and LCA practice most widespread?
